Magnetic Resonance Safety
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a valuable diagnostic tool used widely throughout our healthcare system. The MR machine employs a very powerful magnetic field that may be hazardous to individuals entering the MR environment. We are fortunate to have the opportunity for Frank Shellock, Ph.D., from the Institute for Magnetic Resonance Safety, Education and Research (ISMRSER) to speak to the BIDMC community about MR safety. Physicians, residents, nurses, fellows, technologists, environmental service workers, administrative and facilities staff and all who interface with the MR system are encouraged to attend this important program.

The goals of Dr. Shellock's lecture are to:

  • Promote awareness and understanding of MR safety
  • Disseminate information regarding current and emerging issues
  • Provide materials and resources to facilitate related education and training
