Esther Kim, M.S., R.D., BeWell!, received the Oncology Nutrition Dietetics Practice Group (ON DPG) of the American Dietetics Association 2003 Distinguished Practice Award. The award honors an outstanding ON DPG member who has worked to promote nutrition as a vital component of oncology patient care through professional presentations, publications, and involvement in other oncology-related organizations and patient activities.

Pamela Sheridan, M.D., behavioral neurology, was chosen as the 2003 Honoree by the Massachusetts Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Sheridan was honored at the Association’s annual meeting for her years of volunteer work in advocacy and education for families and patients with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Ernest Terwilliger, Ph.D., experimental medicine, was one of 15 outstanding neuroscientists in the field of spinal cord research to receive funding from the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation (CRPF) in its first grant cycle of 2003 – and the first individual researcher at BIDMC to ever receive a grant from the Foundation. The award will support Terwilliger’s research into the application of gene delivery approaches in motor neurons.
