Honors


Franklin H. Epstein, M.D., nephrology, William Applebaum Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, received the David M. Hume Memorial Award from the National Kidney Foundation. The award honors a physician for significant advances in nephrology or urology.

Armin Ernst, M.D., pulmonary medicine, was elected as National Delegate for the U.S.A. by the European Respiratory Society (ERS). His mandate will last for three years, starting this October. The ERS aims to optimize and develop respiratory medicine in Europe by coordinating with international societies worldwide

Xiaoyu Li, M.D., Ph.D., hematology/oncology, was one of seven researchers nationally to receive a 2003 grant from the Lymphoma Research Foundation. Under the mentorship of Bing Lim, M.D., Ph.D., hematology/oncology, Li will study the relationship between RhoH mutations and clinical outcome in patients to find new ways to diagnose, sub-type and treat lymphoma.

Mark A. Peppercorn, M.D., gastroenterology, received the Distinguished Clinician Award from the American Gastroenterological Association. The award recognizes contributions to patient care and clinical research.
