Laurie Feldman, Ph.D., laboratory for cell and molecular biology, hematology/oncology, was an invited speaker at the 12th International Congress of Radiation Research in Brisbane, Australia, where she spoke on “Functional Erythro-poietin Receptors on Tumor Cells.”

CareGroup Chief Medical Information Officer John Halamka, M.D., and the PatientSite team received the “Investing in Information” award from the Massachusetts Health Data Consortium for their role in developing PatientSite, BIDMC’s Web-based messaging system that allows secure communication between BIDMC patients and physicians. The award honors organizations and individuals who have invested capital, knowledge and leadership in technologies to promote efficient communication of health information.

Kathryn Agarwal, M.D., and Zaldy Tan, M.D., both of gerontology, received Geriatric Academic Career Awards from the Bureau of Health Professions, Department of Health and Human Services. The award recognizes promising geriatricians who will become academic leaders in the field and helps them to promote their development as academic geriatricians who provide clinical training.
