Boston Magazine’s annual “Top Docs” issue spotlights Ralph de la Torre, M.D., BIDMC chief of cardiac surgery, for his pioneering “keyhole” heart surgery; and Martin Abrahamson, M.D., acting chief medical officer of the BIDMC-affiliated Joslin Clinic, for seeing patients while running the world-renowned clinic.

Boston also asked local celebrity patients — including BIDMC President and CEO Paul Levy — to identify their favorite doctors. Among those named: BIDMC’s Sandra Dayaratna, M.D., ob/gyn, and Amy N. Ship, M.D., general medicine. Levy praised Ship, his personal internist, for her empathy and her “sensible answers to medical problems.”
