CORE CLINICAL SERVICES COMMITTEE
(SUBCOMMITTEE OF THE MEDICAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE)

The Division of Laboratory and Transfusion Medicine receives advice and guidance from the Core Clinical Services Committee (CCSC) composed of clinicians from multiple disciplines as well as laboratory staff and administrators. It reports to the Medical Executive Committee.

The CCSC provides oversight and review of the division's adherence to federal and state regulations as outlined by the Clinical Laboratory improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA '88), the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the Joint Commission of American Health Organizations (JCAHO), the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In addition to reviewing and approving the laboratory's critical value and critical test list, the CCSC also advises us on the menu of laboratory tests offered*, the choice of reference laboratories for those tests not performed on-site, and the use of "point-of-care" or decentralized testing.
