Critical tests are laboratory results which are defined by an organization as critical; regardless of the result value and will be called to the provider, assessed for timeliness of calls, and monitored for future improvement.

This list was approved by the MEC (Core Clinical Services Committee) on 1/27/2009.

These tests include:

• Frozen Section result
• ABG results reported to the ORs
• Massive Transfusion Protocol activation PT, PTT, PLT and Fibrinogen
• Percutaneous Umbilical Cord Blood sampling (PUBS)
• Intraoperative PTH
