Treatment Programs

Eating Disorders Services offer a continuum of treatment options, ranging from inpatient to evening treatment. A comprehensive assessment is used to determine the appropriate level of entry for each patient. Programs share the following therapeutic structure, with intensity of services adjusted to the particular program and to each patient's individual needs.

  • Medical monitoring
  • Therapeutic supervised meals and snacks
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Milieu and nursing therapy
  • Nutrition counseling - individual and group
  • Psychoeducational and Dialectical-Behavioral groups
  • Family treatment and education
  • Discharge planning and transitional aftercare treatment
  • Individualized treatment plans

Inpatient Care

Acute behavioral, psychiatric and medical care is provided on a discrete inpatient unit. Treatment includes: medical monitoring; psychopharmacology; continuous needs assessment; three supervised, structured meals; participation in individual, group and nutritional therapies; family education; and discharge planning.

The Inpatient Program is able to treat patients experiencing significant medical complications due to their eating disorder. Enteral feeding is also available for low-weight patients experiencing medical imbalances, significant weight loss, or a need for gradual re-introduction to food.

Partial Hospitalization

The 12-hour Partial Hospitalization program assists patients who require intensive structure for the majority of the day but who are able to contain their symptomatic behaviors at night. The program's services are similar to, but less intense than, those offered through the Inpatient Program. Treatment is available seven days per week.

Day Treatment

The 7-hour Day Treatment Program is designed for patients who are currently receiving outpatient medical and psychological care, but need additional structure and support. The program includes: medical monitoring; daily needs assessment; two supervised, structured meals; and participation in group and nutrition therapies. Treatment is available seven days a week.

Evening Program

The Evening Treatment Program serves patients who function well during the day, but who need structure and support in the evenings. The program is offered three evenings a week and includes weekly needs assessment, supervised meals, family education and participation in nutrition and therapy groups.
