Where is the medical library in BIDMC?
The Lassor & Fanny Agoos Library is located in BA-101, off the lobby of the Farr Building. A library for patients and the public is located in The Learning Center (lobby of the Shapiro Clinical Center, east campus).

Who can use the libraries?
The Agoos Library is open to all of CareGroup during regular operating hours. Visitors should contact the library by email libraryservices@caregroup.harvard.edu) or by phone (632-8480) to schedule a visit.The Learning Center is open to the public weekdays.

What are the operating hours?
The library is staffed and open to all BIDMC and CareGroup staff and students Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Nights, weekends and holidays, the library is available to BIDMC staff and students only.

How do I get in after hours?
Access cards for after hours are available to BIDMC staff and students see About Us for more detail.

How can I get access to library resources from offsite?
Many of the library's online journals and databases are limited to BIDMC or CareGroup IP addresses. (Access limitations are designated in the Resource Descriptions.) If clinicians need to access these databases from off site, they are encouraged to use VPN software, available from IS by calling or emailing the IS Support Center. Note: There are no access restrictions on Digital Library resources, once you have registered.

What books and journals are available in the library?
The Agoos Integrated Library Catalog contains the holdings of both of the Agoos Medical Library and the Learning Center Library at BIDMC, plus the Woodard Library at New England Baptist Hospital. You may also call email us (libraryservices@bidmc.harvard.edu) or call (632-8480) to ask.

How do I get a journal article or book that is not in BIDMC?
We will assist you in locating needed documents. See Document Delivery Services for details.

How long do books circulate?
Most books circulate two weeks, with one renewal. See Library Services for details.

What are the other library services?
Services include reference, instruction, consultation, library orientation, and access to computer workstations, among others. See the Library Services page for details.
